OUR SCOUTS -Girl Troop 336, Cub Pack 36 and Boy Troop 36

The Scout Law:  A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

An important outreach of LVPC for over 80 years, Scouting BSA seeks to build good citizens who live by the Scout Law.  Three units of the Skylands District, Patriot Path Council are chartered to our church.  All of them are active and provided critical support to youth during the recent pandemic, whether meeting outdoors in our Pavilion, via Zoom, or in person indoors.

Our scout units meet each week and camp and hike each month.  There are some great trips they have taken this year and a high adventure trip to Sea Base in Florida is planned for 2025.

Troop 336 thanks everyone from the church who supported their tree pick up fundraiser.  Over 150 trees were picked up in a single day and delivered to the DPW to be made into mulch for the town parks.  The troop even managed to finish everything before the snow really set in.

Both troops went to the Klondike Derby with their sleds to test their scouting skills.  They had to pack their sled with everything they might need for skill tests like fire building, knot tying, orienteering, and camping.

Troop 36 celebrated their most recent Eagle Scout, Luke Heim, right here at LVPC.  His project was building bat houses that were placed around the churches in town to keep the bats out of belfrys.  His parents are very proud of him.

While all this was going on, Pack 36 was busy building race cars from blocks of wood.  These very creative cars raced against each other at the Pinewood Derby, held in Fellowship Hall.  The very high-tech track set up measured tenths of a second differences as the cub built cars raced toward the finish line.  There were, of course, trophies.
